ABC Breakfast Program

The Abaco Strong Breakfast for Children Program became the National School Breakfast Program in 2023 when it was taken over by the central government of The Bahamas and expanded into all government preschools and primary schools nationwide. As of the end of 2025, the program had provided over 1 million breakfasts to over 20,000 students!

Health and Education form the foundation on which to build when it comes to raising strong children that have an opportunity to be successful as they grow and mature into adults and productive citizens. A nutritious breakfast for each child helps to increase school attendance, improve alertness, concentration, mood, and behavior, and improve overall nutrition and development.

And the program delivers more than nutrition alone. It also provides a meaningful economic stimulus, with over 140 Bahamian vendors engaged to prepare and deliver healthy meals every week of the programme!

Sleep Soundly Abaco

In 2020 and 2021, our amazing volunteers distributed  over 300 mattresses and bed frames, along with pillows, sheets and blankets to residents throughout Abaco, including Treasure Cay, Crown Haven, Grand Cay, Green Turtle Cay, Spring City, The Farm, Murphy Town, Blackwood, Fire Road, Marsh Harbour, Central Pines, Dundas Town, Sandy Point, Cooperstown, and Moores Island.

We remain grateful to The Lyford Cay Foundation, Treasure Cay Community Foundation, The Rotary Club of The Bahamas, Bahamas Ferries, and City Furniture who all made this program possible.

Home Repair Program

Hurricane Dorian’s impact stretched far beyond a single settlement, leaving communities throughout Abaco facing catastrophic loss. In some areas, nearly 90% of homes were destroyed or deemed unlivable.

In February 2020, we brought in a dedicated team of seasoned volunteers who rolled up their sleeves and got to work, helping families throughout Abaco return to homes that were safe, secure, and livable once again.

Community Events

Community is all about coming together, and the Abaco Strong team is committed to doing just that. As the island continued to recover from the aftermath of both the hurricane and the pandemic, we were able to organize and host various events that foster unity and hope. These events included a take-away meal program, designed to provide meals for those who didn’t have access to food after the storm and to help food suppliers and vendors distribute hot meals and grocery items; beach clean-ups organized by volunteers from the community who came together to remove garbage and debris; holiday events, notably during Christmas 2022 when we sent over 300 gifts to the children of Abaco to help make their Christmas a memorable one.
